MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

2011/2012 Season (September 2011 through August 2012)

Membership Fee is $185
Siblings of a VCJGA Member $160 $25 will be refunded to Siblings after registration has been processed/paid - Must be same last name and same household.

VCJGA Membership swag bag ($80 Value) is given to each member at the first tournament played and includes:

VCJGA Personalized Bag Tag (for first time members*)
Travel Duffle Bag
Water Bottle (PBE Free)
Golf Towel
Sharpie Pens
VCJGA Bumper and Golf Bag Stickers

* = A replacement Bag Tag can be purchased for $10)

NOTE: Graduating Seniors may play the entire season except the final event of the season in late August. The TaylorMade TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP winner earns an AJGA Exemption and a high school graduate would not have the opportunity to utilize.

The VCJGA has two (2) types of tours depending on the ability of the golfer... All Divisions are based on age and played at gross score (no handicaps) from age appropriate tee markers.

1. VCJGA TOUR - Title listed on the schedule in all CAPITAL letters are events for qualified, experienced players ages 12 and older that have not started college. These events have three (3) divisions:

Championship Boys (Ages 16+)
Championship Girls (Ages 16+)
Boys 12-15

Most tournaments are 36-Hole, stroke play tournaments played over two-days. The Top-5 season point winners in the Championship Boys and Girls divisions earn 2012 SCPGA Toyota Tour Cup exempt status!

TAYLOR-MADE CUP series is a four event series on top quality courses, nationally ranked and offer AJGA PBE. Eligibility Criteria:

Participated or Qualified to play in a 2010/2011 AJGA Tournament
Top-Half Finish in the Field in a 2010/2011 FCWT or IJGT Tournament
Member of the SCPGA Toyota Tour Cup Series
Made the Cut in the 2011 (Championship or "A" Disisions) LA City Junior Golf Championship
Currently ranked in the Top 2,500 on National Junior Scoreboard
2011 Scoring average of 84 or better on a High School Golf Team (Minimum of 5 Matches)

The VCJGA will not only prepare you for College Golf, it will over prepare you for High School golf!

2. Mini-Tour - Listed on the schedule with the title "Mini-Tour" listed first. This is our entry level tour and has three (3) Mini-Tour divisions AND Q-School (Qualifying School) for players that are trying to qualify for the VCJGA TOUR (above).

Boys 9-11 9-hole events course played at approximately 2,500 yards long - Two (2) 18-hole events played at @ 5,000 yards
Girls 9-11 9-hole events; course played at approximately 2,000 yards long - Two (2) 18-hole events played at @ 4,000 yards
Q-School Boys 9-hole events and two (2) 18-hole events played from the middle (white) tees at @ 6,000 yards +
Q-School Girls 9-hole events and two (2) 18-hole events played from the forward (red) tees at @ 5,000 yards +

These tournaments are 9-Holes on Saturday afternoons. Two (2) of the Tournaments (Majors) are 18-Holes (Ventura County Championship and the Mini-Tour Championship. These events include the Q-School divisions and give them the opportunity to earn two (2) points (one point for each nine-holes played at or below the Target Score.

Qualifying School is a prooving ground for those that are 12 and older wanting to play on the VCJGA Tour. Q-School is a non-competitive playing ability test. Shoot the target score or better for 3-rounds and you will move to the VCJGA Tour. New, experienced players to the VCJGA over age 12 may be given the opportunity to play in one VCJGA Tour event with approval of the Board of Directors. If issues with Pace of Play, Rules, Etiquette or Score, the player will be required to graduate from Q-School.

Consider the following...

If you are not certain what division your junior golfer should be playing in, check out the following golf characteristics that must be developed in order to play the VCJGA Tour (remember, No Caddies):

PLAYING ABILITY - Junior golfers must be able to advance the ball from the tee to the green with minimal difficulty without assistance or advise.
NAVIGATE THE COURSE AND PACE OF PLAY - Junior golfers need to be able to navigate each hole including hazards/bunkers without assistance/advice AND be able to do it without delay or at a proper pace standard set by the course or VCJGA.
RULES OF GOLF - Junior golfers need to have the maturity to understand basic concepts and rules of the game. Playing the ball as it is found, and when that cannot be done, taking relief or penalty in accordance with the USGA Rules of Golf. Returning an accurate and reliable score while protecting the field, which means to make certain that your score and all others in your group record true and actual scores for each hole. It is your duty to make every effort to clearify any disputes prior to returning a scorecard to the Committee.
ETIQUETTE - Junior golfer must have the maturity to extend every etiquette or courtesy to every golfer on the course.

Our goal is to have the junior golfer become a self-reliant, complete golfer. The VCJGA reserves the right to make the final determination as to which division the junior golfer will begin playing in.
